The Word that Made Chita Cry
My name is Chita. I’ll never forget that day. I cried when those people prayed for me, and cried every time they said the word Jesus, and I couldn’t understand why.
I grew up in a strict Buddhist family. My grandfather was a very religious person who taught me about Buddhism. I loved Buddhism and followed it faithfully, leading the ritual practices in my home for my whole family.
A few years ago, I was studying computer at a small institute in my city. While I was studying one day in November 2016, three Chinese Christians asked if they could pray for me and I said yes. I cried when they prayed in Chinese, even though I didn't understand what they were saying. I couldn’t figure out why I cried during their prayer. The next day I shared my confusion with one of my Christian friends from school and she said that happened because God touched my heart. Every time she repeated the word Jesus I cried even more. When she shared Bible verses with me, I cried again!
My mind couldn't justify what was happening to me. My friend encouraged me to try to understand more about this experience by reading the Bible and learning about Jesus. I decided to go to church to learn more. After one year of searching, I found Jesus! Philippians 4:13 is the first Bible verse that lifted me up and gave me strength. I now know Jesus as the only way for salvation. I was baptized on January 1, 2017.
